Joshua Tree
National Park is made up of two desert systems, the Colorado and the
Mojave. The Colorado which is on the eastern side of the park is
3,000 feet below where temperatures are higher making the Colorado
sparse and scattered with creosote bushes, flowering ocotillo and cholla
cactus. Giant yuccas on sandy plains marked by giant monoliths and
rock piles make up the Mojave which is on the western side of the park.
