| Crystal Cascades
Trail |
Easy trail that follows
a creek to a waterfall with water cascading out of a cave. The
trail leads further up and joins Ulhorn Trail. |
1. Follow Road 275 from
Crystal lake Campground for 4 miles north. The trailhead is at
a switchback in the road.
2.Follow Ulhorn Trail from Crystal lake Campground.
After 1.2 miles there is a junction with Cascades Trail |

with summit of Old Baldy (Big Snowy), easternmost of high peaks in
Big Snowy Mountains. Summit provides 360 degree panorama of

Gap follow County Rd 297 east 32 moles to Red Hill Road then 10
miles north. |

Neil Connection Trail |
Trail follows primitive
road along foot hills of Big snowies from Brooks Coulee to Timber
Creek, crossing East and West fork drainages of Blake Creek.

1. From Hwy 191 at
Judith gap go 9 miles east on County Road 297 to Neil Creek Rd
(Forest Road 8935) then 10 miles north on Neil to west trailhead in
Brooks Coulee. 2. From
access No.1, continue east 4 miles to Timber Creek Road 270, then 6
miles north to eastern trailhead. |

Good views of
Musselshell Valley, Craxies, and Beartooth Mountains. Black
bears are common in the lower 1/2 mile. |
1 mile east on
Neil Connection Trail from
Brooks Coulee. 2.5 miles from trailhead to Ice Caves and 3
miles from trailhead to summit and junction with Ulhorn Trail.
Follows the road up Neil Creek for 1/2 mile. From this point
the trail is closed to cars for last 2 miles as it switchbacks up
ridge to Ice Caves. |

meadows and follows North Fork to its headwaters and junction with
Kirby Creek Trail. rail then
climbs over a saddle and descends in drainage of Cottonwood Creek
