Buckhorn Island State Park

Buckhorn Island State Park, 895 acres of marsh, meadows and woods and the last vestige of once vast marshlands and meadows that bordered the Niagara River, is classified as a park preserve. The public is welcome to walk the nature trail, hike, fish and cross-country ski in the park. Currently, the park is undergoing restoration to re-establish wetland cover and water levels and increase the diversity of native flora and fauna. Part of the restoration plan includes increasing public access with more non-intrusive trails, overlooks, a bike path and parking facilities.

Located off I-190 at the north end of Grand Island.

Devil's Hole State Park overlooks the lower Whirlpool rapids. A wildly beautiful walkway leads down from the park along the turbulent Niagara River 300 feet into the wooded gorge and offers an up-close, spectacular view of the gorge's rapids. Devil's Hole has picnic areas, hiking, and nature trails. It is one of the most popular spots for fishermen.

Evangola State Park's major attraction is its beautiful arc-shaped shoreline and natural sand beach on Lake Erie. Low cliffs of Angola shale line the edge of the beach. In addition to swimming, the park has picnic facilities, baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts and 80 campsites

Fort Niagara State Park has two boat launches providing access to the Lower Niagara River and Lake Ontario, woodland hiking trails, swimming pools, waterslide, a view of Lake Ontario, picnic grounds, playgrounds, tennis courts, water fowl hunting and 18 soccer fields. In winter, visitors can cross-country ski, snowshoe, and sled. Adjacent to Old Fort Niagara State Historic Site.

Four Mile Creek State Park is located just 15 minutes north of the mighty Niagara Falls. The 275 campsites average 50' x 50' in size and feature both shady and sunny settings. Available services range from 10 50 amp sites and 121 30 amp sites to 144 non-electric sites accommodating the biggest rig to the most primitive tent site. 21 Prime sites, electric or non-electric, are located near the shores of Lake Ontario and offer spectacular panoramic views. The park has hiking trails for campers along the densely wooded bluffs. The marsh at the mouth of Four Mile Creek is home to fauna such as great blue herons, white tail deer and to flora such as stunning white trillium and greenbrier

Golden Hill State Park

Golden Hill State Park was acquired by New York State in 1962. The Thirty Mile Lighthouse, decommissioned by the U.S. Coast Guard in 1958, is part of the park and is available for rental year-round. This landmark has a rich history which can be enjoyed by visitors of the park, through the Friends of Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse. The lighthouse originally provided keepers and assistant keepers family quarters.

Golden Hill State Park offers camping, fishing, boating, shoreline hiking, picnicking, nature walks and walking tours of the lighthouse site. Summer events the park are numerous. Winter activities are also available, including snowshoeing and five miles of snowmobile trails that run through the park

Joseph Davis State Park

Joseph Davis State Park has facilities for a wide variety of recreational activities. The terrain is generally flat, with fields, woodlands and ponds. Anglers can fish for largemouth bass in the pond near the park entrance or for a variety of freshwater fish from the fishing dock on the lower Niagara River. The park also has a nature trail, as well as cross-country skiing/snowshoeing and snowmobiling trails and an 27-hole frisbee disc golf course

Buffalo: Take I-190 north, go past first Robert Moses exit. Get off at last exit (just before bridge into Canada). Go right on "Loop" and follow to fork in the road. Follow the sign that reads "Robert Moses-Fort Niagara." Exit at Pletcher Rd

Knox Farm State Park

Knox Farm State Park is the former country estate of Buffalo#39;s renowned Knox Family. It is located adjacent to the historic village of East Aurora, birthplace of the Roycroft Arts & Crafts movement and former home of Millard Fillmore. The park's 633 acres are comprised of a variety of habitats, including 400 acres of grasslands (pastures and hayfields), and 100 acres of woodlands, ponds and several wetland areas. Visitors to Knox Farm can observe wildlife, hike, cross-country ski and ride horseback along beautifully scenic nature trails. The park is home to several species of farm animals including horses, sheep, goats, llamas and chickens.

I-90 to exit 54 (rte. 400.) Continue on Rte. 400 to Jamison Road exit. Turn right on Jamison Road and follow to the end. Turn left on rte. 16 (Seneca St.) and follow for two miles. Entrance to park is on the right

Niagara Falls State Park

Niagara Reservation State Park, which surrounds mighty Niagara Falls, is the oldest state park in the United States. The park is made up of numerous islands, as well as the famous Prospect Point area. The magnificent Great Lakes Garden greets visitors entering the park. The visitor center offers information and exhibits about the park's history, geology and technology. The Niagara Scenic Trolley provides three-mile guided tours, stopping at the park's most scenic vistas and at such facilities as the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center (716) 278-1070, which tells the story of the creation of the falls with exhibits and a multiscreen theater presentation. The Observation Tower has elevators that take visitors 180 feet down to the base of the tower for a close-up view of the American Falls. While in the park ride the world famous Maid of the Mist Boat and get wet while at the Cave of the Winds attraction. Visitors can also hike, bike and fish

Reservoir State Park

Reservoir State Park, Town of Niagara Route 31, is the most heavily used park in Niagara County. The park has three tennis courts, eight baseball diamonds, two basketball courts, a roller hockey court and picnic facilities. It is also home to the largest softball complex in Niagara County. Other users include soccer players, runners, kite fliers, model airplane clubs and golfers. Winter visitors come to sled and cross-country ski. Part of the park is an overlook for the Robert Moses Plant Reservoir. Excellent fishing available in the Reservoir

Park is located at the intersection of Route 31 and 265, six miles from the Falls. Exit 24 of the I-190

Whirlpool State Park

Whirlpool State Park has two levels--the upper, or street level has many overlooks with spectacular views of the swirling waters of the rapids, the whirlpool and the Niagara River Escarpment. Visitors picnic and children use the playground at this level. The lower, or river level is accessible by walking the 300 feet of trails and steps that descend into the gorge. This level has several nature trails and access for fishing

Wilson-Tuscarora State Park

Wilson-Tuscarora State Park is a well-preserved natural area for many varieties of plants and wildlife, encompassing 395 acres of mature woods, open meadows and marshland. Tuscarora Bay, divided from Lake Ontario by a strip of land called "The Island," has a boat launch and emergency storm shelter docks. The park's four-mile nature trail is also used for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Fishing for many varieties of pan fish and game fish, from boats or from shore, is extremely popular. Picnickers can enjoy scenic views of the lake while children play in the playground

Woodlawn Beach State Park, has a lovely, natural sand beach nearly a mile long and panoramic views of Lake Erie. In addition to swimming, visitors can windsurf, bird watch, play volleyball and sunbathe. The park has a playground for children as well.
